Grand Mufti Heads to Qatar to Offer Condolences

Beirut: Grand Mufti Abdel Latif Derian on Monday departed for Doha to offer condolences to the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following the death of the Emir Father, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the visit by Grand Mufti Derian is part of a series of diplomatic gestures extended by various leaders and dignitaries to the Qatari royal family in the wake of the recent bereavement. The Emir Father, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, was a significant figure in Qatar's history, having ruled the country from 1995 to 2013 before abdicating in favor of his son, the current Emir.

The Grand Mufti's trip to Qatar underscores the strong bilateral relations between Lebanon and Qatar, as well as the mutual respect between their respective religious and political leaders. The visit aims to convey Lebanon's solidarity with Qatar during this period of mourning.
