Beirut: Interior Minister, Ahmad al-Hajjar, on Wednesday met UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Barham Salih, in the presence of senior UN officials including Regional Director Rima Jamous Imseis and UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Imran Riza. Hajjar emphasized that Lebanon's top priority is securing a ceasefire, highlighting the role of UN agencies amid the displacement of more than one million Lebanese. The Minister also outlined measures taken by the ministry to address security and humanitarian challenges.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salih expressed full solidarity with Lebanon and pledged to mobilize international support. Talks also covered the Syrian displacement file and ways to enhance cooperation with UNHCR to facilitate safe and organized returns.
