Halabi Engages in Political Dialogue and Disability Integration Initiatives

Beirut: Caretaker Minister of Education, Abbas Halabi, on Friday engaged in discussions with Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, focusing on public affairs and the political landscape following the presidential election.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Halabi later met with a delegation from the Disability Pastoral Care Department of the Patriarchal Diocese in Bkerki. The delegation, which included Father Milad Sakiem, Dalia Freifer, and Theresia Freifer, was accompanied by Education Director-General Imad Ashkar and Dr. Hilda Khoury. They presented their ongoing efforts to promote the integration of individuals with disabilities into educational institutions, highlighting plans to organize a conference on integration in Bkerki involving key stakeholders.

Minister Halabi expressed his approval of the initiative and highlighted that the Ministry of Education currently supports 117 inclusive schools, with a goal for all public schools to be inclusive by 2023. He also endorsed the proposed conference, which is intended to be held under the patronage of Patriarch Al-Rahi, and emphasized the importance of supporting students with disabilities, particularly those impacted by the Israeli aggression.
