Beirut: MP Marwan Hamadeh on Monday said Lebanon is likely to work on extending the ceasefire and continuing negotiations, barring a wider regional escalation, which he said he considers unlikely. Moreover, Hamadeh stressed that President Joseph Aoun enjoys broad support and should be fully backed, crediting his stance with securing the ceasefire and advancing talks.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Hamadeh also said that negotiations, currently held in Washington, may move to other locations, as Lebanon prepares a framework document. The MP finally added that implementation may involve international forces under a strengthened UN mandate to support the Lebanese Army and facilitate Israeli withdrawal.
