Hamas Condemns Israel’s Delay in Palestinian Prisoners’ Release as Ceasefire Violation

Gaza: Hamas strongly condemned the Israeli government's decision to postpone the release of Palestinian prisoners, noting that this decision once again reveals Israel's evasion of its obligations.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Izzat al-Rishq, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau, stated that the Israeli claims regarding the handover ceremony being humiliating are unfounded and serve as a pretext to avoid fulfilling the agreement's conditions.

He further explained that the ceremonies are conducted with respect towards the prisoners, emphasizing their humane and dignified treatment. Despite this, he highlighted that Palestinian prisoners are released under restrictive conditions, including being tied, blindfolded, and with their families being warned against holding welcoming celebrations.

The statement pointed out that the decision by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu appears to be a strategic move to hinder the agreement, marking a clear breach of its terms and casting doubt on Israel's commitment to its responsibilities.

Hamas has urged mediators and the international community to take action and apply pressure on Israel to adhere to the agreement and proceed with the release of the prisoners without further delay.
