Beirut: Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transport Ali Hamieh has raised questions regarding the enforcement of UN Resolution 1701 after the kidnapping of Imad Amhaz, a civilian naval captain. The incident reportedly occurred just 100 meters from Amhaz's residence. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Hamieh highlighted the proximity of the kidnapping to Amhaz's home and suggested the possibility of a naval landing being involved. He questioned the efficacy of Resolution 1701's implementation in preventing such incidents. Hamieh noted that ongoing communication with UNIFIL is crucial, as the Lebanese coast is under periodic surveillance by peacekeeping forces, stretching from Naqoura to Arida.
