Beirut: Caretaker Health Minister, Dr. Firas Abiad, on Wednesday launched a national flu vaccination campaign in partnership with UNICEF and the World Health Organization, aimed at protecting vulnerable groups, particularly elderly displaced persons and those with chronic illnesses. Abiad emphasized that the campaign, supported by the Ministry of Health, was part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public health amidst rising tensions and overcrowded shelters. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Health Minister praised local and international partners, including the WHO and UNICEF, for their critical support. The initiative is seen as a proactive measure to prevent the spread of influenza during a time when healthcare resources are strained. Dr. Abiad highlighted the importance of targeting high-risk groups to mitigate potential outbreaks that could exacerbate the current health crisis. The campaign is set to deploy vaccination units across various regions, prioritizing communities with high concen trations of displaced individuals. Abiad also urged residents to report health concerns via hotlines 1214 and 1787, ensuring rapid response and assistance to those in need.
