Beirut: Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, on Tuesday met with a high-level delegation from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, led by its Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sania Nishtar, to discuss the strategic outlook for Lebanon's national immunization program. The meeting was attended by representatives from WHO, UNICEF, and senior officials from the Ministry of Public Health.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the talks focused on sustaining Gavi's support under its 2026-2030 strategy and preparing for the introduction of new vaccines, including HPV by 2026. Minister Nassereddine emphasized that Lebanon's immunization program remains a national priority despite economic challenges and regional instability, and stressed the importance of maintaining equitable vaccine access for all communities.
In turn, Dr. Nishtar praised Lebanon's resilience and affirmed Gavi's commitment to support Lebanon in strengthening its immunization systems. Discussions also highlighted the ministry's role in expanding vaccine coverage through its primary healthcare network and enhancing program sustainability.
