Halba: Public Health Minister, Rakan Nassereddine, concluded this afternoon his first tour of Akkar with a visit to Abdullah Al-Rassi Governmental Hospital in Halba, where he was received by the hospital's director and a team of doctors and staff who briefed him on the hospital's operations and needs.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Nassereddine considered Halba Government Hospital a "fundamental pillar in serving the people of Akkar, being the only public hospital within the governorate that receives all patients without discrimination." He added that the Health Ministry is working to enhance the hospital's capabilities and equip it with the latest medical equipment.
In this context, he announced the arrival of a state-of-the-art CT scan machine at the hospital, valued at $700,000, provided by the Ministry of Health, which will begin operating within a month. He added that the hospital has been equipped with an MRI machine through the Islamic Development Bank, a cardiac catheterization unit supported by the Qatar Red Crescent, and an additional financial contribution of approximately half a million dollars to develop medical services and meet the needs of the region's residents.
Highlighting the importance of Halba Government Hospital and the determination to provide broader support, Nassereddine disclosed that a new public hospital project is underway in the area of Akroum.
"This region needs more than one government hospital, and that's why we are endeavoring, in cooperation with the Council for Development and Reconstruction and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, to begin works soon on a new government hospital in the Sahla-Akroum area, in a way that befits the people of Akkar and their right to adequate healthcare," the Health Minister maintained.
