Beirut: Hezbollah issued a statement on Saturday recalling the May 17th Agreement, emphasizing the 43rd anniversary of the 1983 Agreement amidst significant Lebanese and regional challenges, particularly under the intensifying American-Israeli pressures and the ongoing occupation by the Zionist regime. The statement highlighted the continued crimes of murder, destruction, and land confiscation, especially in southern Lebanon, alongside violations of airspace and territorial waters, and systematic assassinations of civilians and resistance fighters.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Hezbollah expressed concerns over attempts to relaunch discussions on a comprehensive peace agreement between the Lebanese authorities and what it termed the "Zionist entity," viewing such moves as a clear violation of the Lebanese constitution and an erasure of Lebanon's historical and cultural narrative. The statement criticized the Lebanese administration for potentially overlooking past lessons, thereby absolving the enemy of its historical aggressions.
Hezbollah's communication underscored a strong rejection of any external influences, whether American or otherwise, that might compromise Lebanon's sovereignty and independence. The statement urged Lebanese authorities to avoid pursuing options with the enemy that could destabilize the state and society.
In its call to action, Hezbollah urged the Lebanese state to cease what it described as gratuitous concessions and to protect national rights and dignity, as mandated by law. The statement emphasized prioritizing national interests and abandoning any illusions of peace with what it called a usurping and occupying force.
