Manama: The Holy Quran Recitation and Teachers Preparation Institute held an awards ceremony to honour the winners of the third edition of the "Mutun" competition. The ceremony was attended by Shaikh Yasser Ibrahim Al Jalahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) and Deputy Chairman of the Institute's Board of Directors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the competition resulted in the awarding of first, second, and third places across seven branches, each dedicated to the memorisation and understanding of approved classical texts in Quran sciences, Tajweed, and Qera'at. Winners were announced in the various branches, including Al Shatibiyyah (three parts), Al Jazariyyah, Al Ajurrumiyyah, Tuhfat Al Atfal, and Al Khaqaniyyah.
A total of 128 contestants participated in the third edition of the competition, including 59 males and 69 females. Participants were distributed across seven branches. The accompanying "Mutun" programme recorded an average attendance of 187 participants and featured a series of specialised scholarly lectures delivered by experts in the field.
The competition was organised by SCIA as part of its ongoing efforts to implement the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of the Government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in promoting care for the Holy Quran, its sciences, and those who memorise and recite it. These efforts have contributed to consolidating Bahrain's position as a leading centre for Quran work through initiatives such as major Quran competitions, the printing of Mushaf Al Bahrain, the establishment of an institute of Quran recitations, and the opening of Quran centres across the Kingdom.
