Hospitals in Northern Gaza Face Imminent Collapse Amid Continued Israeli Military Operations

Gaza: Hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip are on the brink of total collapse as Israeli military operations persist for the seventeenth day, according to warnings from the Palestinian Center for Human Rights. The center has accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting hospitals, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis by besieging medical facilities, patients, and staff, while intensifying attacks on residential areas. According to Maan News Agency, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights has issued a statement condemning what it describes as the systematic targeting and bombing of hospitals in Gaza. The statement highlights the dire consequences of these actions, including the loss of medical services for civilians, which it argues constitutes part of a broader crime of genocide being committed by Israeli forces. The center reports that the strict siege imposed by Israeli forces has deprived the civilian population of essential supplies, including food and medical treatment, furthering their m ilitary objectives through starvation and deprivation. The statement further details that tens of thousands of civilians in areas like Jabalia and its camp are effectively trapped, cut off from Gaza City, and left without basic necessities such as food, water, and communication. This situation is compounded by the targeting of hospitals, which face potential forced evacuations despite an influx of critical injuries and civilian casualties. The ongoing military operations threaten to render three hospitals-Kamal Adwan, Al-Awda, and the Indonesian-non-functional, as they struggle to operate with minimal capacity due to shortages in staff, fuel, medicines, and food. The Health Group in Palestine reports that the hospitals are already stretched thin, with more than 285 patients, including critical cases, newborns, and individuals in intensive care, at risk due to inadequate medical facilities. The escalation in military actions has also impacted maternity services, endangering the lives of over 9,000 pregnant w omen in the besieged areas and affecting 25 primary health care centers. The Palestinian Center for Human Rights has called upon the international community, including the United Nations Security Council, to compel Israel to cease its military operations and abide by international humanitarian laws. The center stresses the need for immediate action to protect civilians and medical infrastructure, urging international health organizations to support and maintain health services in northern Gaza.
