Houthis Claim Downing of US Drone in Ma’rib Using Locally Made Missile

Ma'rib: The Yemeni Ansar Allah group, known as the Houthis, has announced the downing of an American MQ-9 drone using a surface-to-air missile in Ma'rib. The incident was reported by Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the group's military spokesman, as part of ongoing operations in the region.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Saree stated that the operation was executed by the Yemeni armed forces' air defenses. He emphasized that the missile used was locally manufactured and highlighted that this marks the second aircraft shot down by their forces in a span of 72 hours. The general also noted that this incident is the fourteenth of its kind during what he referred to as the "battle of the promised conquest and holy jihad in support of Gaza."

Saree further declared that the Yemeni Armed Forces are committed to continuing their military operations in solidarity with Gaza. He asserted that these efforts will persist until "the aggression against Gaza is stopped and the siege is lifted," underlining the group's broader geopolitical motives and alliances in the region.
