India and Singapore Commit to Strengthening Defense Ties During Ministerial Dialogue

NEW DELHI: India and Singapore have pledged to deepen their defense cooperation following discussions at the sixth India-Singapore Defence Ministerial Dialogue held in New Delhi. The dialogue, co-chaired by Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his Singaporean counterpart Dr. Ng Eng Hen, focused on enhancing bilateral defense relations underpinned by a mutual commitment to regional peace, stability, and security. According to Kuwait News Agency, both ministers expressed satisfaction with the growing defense cooperation between the two countries, noting regular engagements between their respective Armed Forces in recent years. The dialogue resulted in an agreement to cement defense ties further and explore new areas of collaboration, including automation and Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, both sides agreed to extend the bilateral agreement on Joint Military Training Army for the next five years. Indian Defense Minister Singh expressed gratitude for Singapore's support as the country coordinator f or India in the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting. Dr. Ng Eng Hen, on his part, recognized India as a strategic voice for Asia's peace and stability. During his visit, Dr. Ng Eng Hen also met with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who emphasized the importance of closer collaboration between defense research and development teams from both nations to leverage the latest expertise and technological advancements in the defense field.
