Beirut: Information Minister, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, has issued a strong condemnation of what he describes as "repeated and deliberate" attacks on journalists by Israel. This statement comes in the wake of the recent deaths of reporters Ali Shuaib, Fatima Ftouni, and photojournalist Mohammad Ftouni in Jezzine, who were killed while performing their professional duties.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Dr. Morcos labeled the attack as a deliberate war crime against the media and journalism. He emphasized that this incident is part of a broader, escalating pattern of assaults on media institutions and journalists.
The Information Minister revealed that a comprehensive list of attacks on media personnel, as well as medical and healthcare workers in Lebanon, was submitted two days ago to Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon. Furthermore, the collected information was shared with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, which is currently compiling a file to outline necessary actions, complaints, and protests.
Dr. Morcos announced that a similar report would be submitted to the EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Waele, on Wednesday. He appealed to the international community to take immediate steps to end this "bloody approach" and to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
