Interior Minister Praises Success of Mount Lebanon Elections, Vows Continued Oversight

Beirut: Interior and Municipalities Minister, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, on Monday held a press conference addressing the municipal and mukhtar elections in Mount Lebanon, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful execution of the vote. Al-Hajjar commended 'the great effort exerted from the smallest employee to the highest official,' and affirmed that he will personally continue to oversee the electoral process in the coming weeks.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Al-Hajjar stated, 'I personally supervised the results in coordination with all relevant stakeholders. The outcome is issued by the supervisory committees, then handed to the district commissioners and governors. I requested all results be submitted to the Interior Ministry for my own review to ensure their accuracy.'

The Minister also revealed that a digital program was put in place to cross-check the results before their final publication on the ministry's website. Al-Hajjar further confirmed that the ministry would conduct a comprehensive review of the electoral week to address logistical issues and avoid them in future phases. He also emphasized that the elections were held on schedule despite skepticism, crediting their success to state institutions, media efforts, and the civic awareness of citizens committed to local development.

Al-Hajjar concluded by noting, 'The new presidential term and formation of the government have positively impacted the entire country.'
