Iran to Conduct Sole Strait of Hormuz Demining, Dismisses Macron’s Remarks

Tehran: Iran will independently undertake the demining of the Strait of Hormuz, as confirmed by Tehran in response to comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron. This decision aligns with an existing agreement between Tehran and Washington, stated Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on Monday. Macron had previously announced that France and Oman intended to collaborate on clearing mines from the crucial maritime passage.

According to France24.com, the statement from Iran comes amidst a tense backdrop of regional conflicts and international diplomacy. The Israeli military recently reported the destruction of a 200-meter tunnel in southern Lebanon, allegedly used by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, the United States and Iran have reached an accord to cease strikes on each other, with further discussions scheduled in Doha, Qatar, to resolve the ongoing dispute concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

Additionally, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait, issuing a stark warning of a "complete halt" in negotiations should the United States persist with its attacks on the Islamic Republic.
