Iraqi President Votes in Kurdistan Region of Iraq Parliament Elections

BAGHDAD: Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid, who is of Kurdish nationality, participated in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Parliament elections by casting his vote at a designated hall for senior state officials at the Al-Rashid Hotel in Baghdad. This act underscores the significance of the elections in shaping the region’s political landscape.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement from the president’s media office highlighted that Rashid emphasized the vital role of elections in facilitating the expression of opinions, achieving stability, prosperity, and enhancing freedom and democracy. He called upon the citizens of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to actively engage in the electoral process.

The statement further acknowledged the efforts of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and other government bodies responsible for overseeing the voting process. President Rashid praised their roles in ensuring a smooth and efficient election.

Polling stations across the region, prepared to accommodate
over two million registered voters, opened their doors at 7:00 a.m. and are scheduled to close at 6:00 p.m. local time. This electoral process marks a significant moment for the residents of the Kurdistan Region, providing them with an opportunity to shape their governance.
