Iraq’s Kurdistan Region Holds Parliamentary Elections with Over 1,000 Candidates Competing

ERBIL: Voting commenced in Iraq's Kurdistan region as citizens headed to the polls for the parliamentary elections, the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission reported. The electoral process began early Friday, marking a significant event in the region's political landscape. According to Kuwait News Agency, the commission highlighted that approximately 215,000 voters would participate in this election cycle. The vote is being conducted across 165 election centers strategically located throughout the region to ensure accessibility for all eligible voters. The parliamentary elections feature a diverse array of candidates, with a total of 1,190 individuals representing 13 political parties, including several independent candidates.
