BEIRUT: In a recent statement, the Islamic Resistance declared that it successfully downed an Israeli Hermes 450 drone. The incident was described as a defensive action in support of the Palestinian cause and the sovereignty of Lebanon. According to National News Agency-Lebanon, the group's statement detailed that the drone was targeted by their air defense units at 12:30 am on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The Islamic Resistance emphasized the operation was conducted "in support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and their brave and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people." This development comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with frequent confrontations along the Lebanese borders. The downing of the Hermes 450, a tactical reconnaissance aircraft used extensively by the Israeli military, marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.
