KHAN YOUNIS: A series of Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, including an early morning attack on a residential area in Khan Younis, has resulted in the deaths of 28 civilians, primarily women and children, according to local sources. This incident is part of a broader escalation of violence in the region that has drawn widespread international condemnation and urgent calls for a ceasefire. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the airstrike targeted a residential home in the Al-Manara area of Khan Younis, leading to significant casualties and leaving dozens injured. Medical facilities are currently treating various injuries sustained from the attack. The situation is further exacerbated by another Israeli airstrike on a residential complex in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. This attack resulted in approximately 150 casualties, including fatalities and injuries among women and children. The ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, which began in October 2023, have led to at least 42, 847 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 100,544 others injured. Thousands are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to the continued hostilities. Despite these developments, Israel's military actions have continued unabated, prompting calls from the United Nations Security Council for an immediate ceasefire. The International Court of Justice has also issued directives urging measures to prevent genocide and address the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
