Israeli Army Demolishes Buildings in Eastern Gaza City

Gaza city: The Israeli army on Saturday evening conducted demolition operations targeting residential buildings in areas under its control east of Gaza City. This action took place in the Shejaiya neighborhood, where several buildings were detonated, resulting in loud explosions that resonated across wide parts of the city.

According to Anadolu Agency, eyewitnesses reported seeing thick columns of smoke rising from the demolition sites. The intensity of the explosions caused shrapnel to fall in several neighborhoods of Gaza City. This recent operation is part of a broader campaign by the Israeli army, which has intensified its ground, naval, and aerial bombardment across various parts of Gaza.

The bombardment has affected eastern areas of Gaza City, the town of Beit Lahiya in the north, the eastern parts of Al-Bureij refugee camp in the center, the city of Rafah, and the towns of Al-Qarara and Bani Suhaila east of Khan Younis in the south. Israel's actions continue to violate the ceasefire agreement signed with Hamas, with around 497 violations reported and more than 342 Palestinians killed since October 10, according to the Gaza media office.

Since October 2023, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of nearly 70,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and injured more than 170,900 individuals. The ongoing war, spanning over two years, has left significant destruction in its wake, devastating much of the enclave.
