Tripoli, 28 May 2021(Lana) Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said the EU was looking to see Libya as a partner and ‘they are prepared to work with Libyan authorities, to stop criminal activities in the region.
Di Maio was speaking at a joint press conference here with Foreign Minister Najla Al Mangoush, Maltese Foreign Minister Evarist Bartolo and EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi.
‘I want to make it clear that we are at disposal of the new Libya to become EU’s partner in various sectors to achieve set targets on the economic and investment level, Di Maio said.
‘We are here to renew our commitment to the stability and unity of Libya, and to show EU support for Libya in combating illegal migration and border control, he added.
He highlighted efforts of the EU Commissioner which he said produced fruitful proposals that led to launching of relations between Libya and the EU.
