Beirut: During a meeting with Lebanese officials and representatives of the United Nations, Italy announced the allocation of an additional humanitarian contribution of 10 million Euros (11.5 million USD) aimed at helping mitigate the effects of the crisis and responding to the most urgent needs of the communities affected by the conflict. 2 million Euros are destined for the United Nations OCHA humanitarian fund, 2 million Euros to the Red Cross, and 6 million Euros to NGOs operating in Lebanon.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, a humanitarian flight with 30 tons of materials for the displaced, including medicine, food, and sanitary-hygienic material, is expected to land next week in Beirut. The assistance, provided in coordination with Lebanese authorities and UN humanitarian partners, will support ongoing efforts to deliver essential services and relief to the civilian population, in full respect of the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, and impartiality.
Italy reiterates its solidarity with Lebanon and its people and remains committed to working closely with national authorities and the United Nations to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches those most in need.
