Beirut: Minister of Finance, Yassine Jaber, on Tuesday met with President of the Court of Audit, Judge Mohammad Badran, to discuss the management of Special Drawing Rights (SDR) funds. During the meeting, Judge Badran submitted a detailed report highlighting legal violations related to the disbursement and usage of the SDR funds.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Judge Badran also updated the minister on the ongoing auditing of past financial accounts, which have yet to be completed. The meeting underscored the importance of addressing these pending audits to ensure financial transparency.
Both parties agreed on the need to allocate additional financial compensation for the Court's staff. This move is intended to intensify audit efforts, aiming to finalize all outstanding accounts by the end of 2024. This completion is crucial for the drafting and approval of the 2026 state budget.
