Jordan Condemns Israeli Settler Actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

AMMAN: The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs in Jordan has issued a condemnation of the actions by extremist Israeli settlers who recently stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, an event protected by Israeli occupation forces. The ministry described these actions as provocative and a direct violation of international law and agreements concerning Jerusalem's holy sites. According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry emphasized that these actions violate the historical and legal status quo of Jerusalem's sacred sites and contradict Israel's responsibilities as the occupying power. Sufian Qudah, a spokesperson for the ministry, called for Israel to halt all violations and unilateral measures targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He warned against ongoing attempts to change the temporal and spatial status quo of the site. Qudah also pointed to ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon and highlighted intensified incursions and attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. He stated that Isra el's unilateral actions could lead to further escalation and destabilization in the region, urging the international community to take decisive action against these violations to protect the Palestinian people. Reaffirming Jordan's position, Qudah reiterated that the entire 144-dunum area of Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims. He clarified that the Jerusalem Waqf Administration, under Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places, remains the sole legal authority responsible for managing all aspects of Al-Haram Al-Sharif and overseeing entry to the site.
