AMMAN: The Jordanian government announced plans to hold its cabinet meetings monthly across various governorates to better integrate and address local issues, according to a statement by the Government Communication Minister. This new approach aims to decentralize governance and improve the administration's responsiveness to regional needs. According to Jordan News Agency, Government Communication Minister Momani revealed several key initiatives during a recent press briefing. Among these, the government approved changes to the Food Security Council bylaws for 2024, which include adding the Department of Statistics to enhance the council's capability as the primary national reference for food security data. Additionally, the government ratified a memorandum of cooperation on cybersecurity with Italy's National Center for Cyber Security and an understanding with the Kazakhstan Standards and Metrology Organization to bolster international collaboration. In an effort to stimulate economic activity, Momani high lighted the government's strategy to attract more investors to the industrial city in Karak. He mentioned that the Ministry of Transportation is set to inaugurate a new travel complex in Karak soon, which is expected to facilitate better connectivity and support local economic growth. The Prime Minister has also focused on addressing infrastructural challenges to ensure the timely completion of these projects. Momani provided updates on the Karak Sports City project, noting a 23 percent completion and its scheduled inauguration by the end of the next year. He emphasized that despite regional challenges, the Prime Minister insists on maintaining high standards in public service performance. Addressing regional solidarity, Momani affirmed Jordan's ongoing support for Palestinian and Lebanese communities, referencing recent humanitarian aid and evacuation missions to Lebanon involving 9 Jordanian planes. The Minister also underscored the critical role of the media in fostering a well-informed public discourse , urging the media to focus on accurate reporting and constructive criticism rather than mere praise of public officials.
