DAMASCUS: Syrian President Bashar Assad met with Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, on Sunday to receive a verbal message from His Majesty King Abdullah. The communication addressed several bilateral issues, including efforts to resolve the ongoing Syrian crisis and its repercussions, especially concerning the refugee crisis and the dangers posed by drug trafficking. According to Jordan News Agency, the message also highlighted the escalating tensions in the region and the necessity of curbing such conflicts. A particular emphasis was placed on halting Israel's actions in Gaza and Lebanon and its escalation in the West Bank. President Assad expressed a strong interest in enhancing the fraternal relations between Syria and Jordan, acknowledging King Abdullah's significant role in seeking resolution to the Syrian crisis. During the meeting, discussions centered on the return of Syrian refugees. President Assad reaffirmed that ensuring the voluntary and safe re patriation of Syrian refugees remains a top priority for the Syrian government. He noted that substantial progress has been made in creating a conducive environment for their return, particularly through legislative and legal advancements. Safadi underscored the importance of resolving the Syrian crisis in a manner that preserves Syria's unity, cohesion, and sovereignty. He stated that achieving security, wellness, and stability in Syria, while facilitating conditions for the voluntary return of refugees, is a regional imperative that Jordan is steadfastly pursuing. The dialogue also explored avenues for enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
