Justice Minister Engages in Talks with EU Ambassador to Enhance Judicial Cooperation

Beirut: Minister of Justice, Adel Nassar, on Monday met at his office with European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Waele, in the presence of the minister's advisor, lawyer Lara Saade, and Judge Joseph Tamer. Discussions reportedly focused on strengthening cooperation between the Justice Ministry and the European Union in the coming period.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting also reviewed the initiatives undertaken by Minister Nassar within the ministry. Talks touched on the draft law on judicial independence and its current status, as well as on the forthcoming signing of the 'Eurojust' agreement, a judicial cooperation framework between Lebanon and the European Union.

Minister Nassar also briefed the ambassador on the measures being implemented by the ministry to comply with the requirements of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) concerning anti-money laundering and counterterrorism efforts.
