Manila: Kong-Rey and Trami typhoons have resulted in the deaths of approximately 125 people in the Philippines, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Tuesday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the council confirmed that these severe weather events impacted 7.14 million individuals or 1.8 million families across 17 regions in the nation. It was further noted that 532,000 people have found refuge in evacuation centers set up across the affected areas.
The Philippines, a country frequently hit by typhoons, typically experiences an annual average of 20 such storms. These weather systems often lead to heavy rains, powerful winds, significant flooding, and deadly landslides, posing severe challenges to the affected communities.
