Kuwait Affirms Need for Collective States’ Efforts Against Corruption.


Vienna: The State of Kuwait has affirmed that corruption is a complex challenge that hinders development, destabilizes economies, and jeopardizes public confidence in ruling institutions. The remarks were made by Rehab Al-Farhan, the Third Secretary of the State of Kuwait’s Permanent Delegation at the UN, during the 13th session of states parties of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Farhan emphasized that addressing the challenge of corruption cannot be achieved through individual efforts but requires a collective approach. She stated that Kuwait stands alongside its international partners to enhance global measures to fight corruption through cooperation and innovation. The senior Kuwaiti diplomat reiterated her country’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with the academy in combating corruption. Kuwait also aims to expand joint cooperation projects at this level.

Al-Farhan further noted that Kuwait is actively involved in joint training programs a
nd initiatives to bolster the capacities of its institutions and empower personnel responsible for maintaining integrity. As Kuwait looks toward the future, it remains committed to exploring new means for cooperation with the academy and member states, expressing confidence that collaborative efforts will be fruitful, promoting principles of transparency, accountability, and governance.

In her concluding remarks, Al-Farhan congratulated Slagjana Taseva on her appointment as the dean of the academy, wishing her success in her new role. She also reaffirmed Kuwait’s aspiration to collaborate with her to achieve the academy’s goals. Furthermore, Al-Farhan expressed Kuwait’s admiration for the academy’s efforts in organizing the session and combating corruption globally, affirming unwavering support for the academy’s mission to enhance transparency, accountability, and wise governance.
