Kuwait MoI Reports Over 21,000 Deportations and Nearly 12,000 Visa Status Amendments in 2024 Crackdown

Kuwait city: Kuwait's Ministry of Interior (MoI) has deported 21,190 individuals for violating work visa laws and assisted 11,970 in amending their legal status since the start of the year, as part of a major crackdown on visa forgery and manipulation. According to Kuwait News Agency, the actions were taken under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah. The ministry's statement highlighted that the enforcement drive aimed at curbing illegal activities related to visa applications, including the operation of fake companies. As a result of these intensified efforts, authorities recorded 59 felony cases and 506 misdemeanors related to visa violations. The Ministry has emphasized its commitment to enforcing the law rigorously against both employees and employers who violate visa guidelines. The statement reiterated that such stringent measures are crucial to maintaining the integrity of the nation's immigration system and ensuring the security of its borders.
