MANAMA: Two Kuwaiti referees participating in the International School Games in Bahrain emphasized the significance of engaging in global events to enhance their skills and gain valuable experience. Speaking to KUNA, Mohammad Al-Shatti and Maatouq Al-Maatouq expressed that taking part in international championships offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with referees worldwide and exchange relevant experiences.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Shatti expressed his pride in representing Kuwait in the championship and other international sporting events, aiming to showcase the honorable image of Kuwaiti youth, particularly referees. He further explained that his participation in the Bahrain-hosted event was at the invitation of the Bahrain Tennis Federation. Al-Shatti commended the championship for enabling referees to work with peers from various nationalities, as the event welcomed around 100 athletes.
Al-Maatouq also highlighted the gathering as an excellent opportunity for referees globally to acqu
ire new skills, interact with athletes, and manage complex games. He noted that meetings among referees serve as a tool to understand different countries’ game cultures, helping them refine their skills in managing international matches. Al-Maatouq expressed his satisfaction in representing Kuwait at the International School Games, pointing out that referees are selected based on performance assessments, management abilities, and knowledge of the law.
The 2024 school championship, held in Bahrain from October 24-31, attracts 5,515 athletes from 71 countries, including Kuwait, marking the largest participation in the history of the games.
