Kuwait’s Public Works Minister to Sign Road Maintenance Contracts Amid Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking

KUWAIT CITY: Minister of Public Works Dr. Nora Al-Mashaan announced during the weekly Cabinet session that she plans to sign contracts for extensive maintenance of Kuwait's main roads and inner streets. The signing, scheduled for Wednesday, will involve agreements with local, Gulf, and international companies. According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister Al-Mashaan informed the Cabinet that these contracts are part of a broader initiative to improve the country's road networks, with up to 18 contracts expected to be finalized. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to upgrading infrastructure across Kuwait. In the same session, Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohammad Al-Wasmi briefed the Cabinet on the efforts of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking and Immigrant Trafficking. He emphasized the necessity of addressing human trafficking as a violation of both Islamic law and human rights. Dr. Al-Wasmi highlighted the importance of enforcing Law 91 /2013, which targets human trafficking and immigrant trafficking, and urged cooperation among ministries and state authorities to enhance Kuwait's standing in international organizations. The Cabinet also resolved that the national committee should provide a quarterly report on its activities to the government. Additionally, the Cabinet adopted recommendations from the Supreme Committee to Investigate Kuwaiti Citizenship, focusing on cases where nationality was obtained through fraudulent means.
