Labor Minister Chairs Social Security Meeting on Healthcare Coverage

Beirut: Labor Minister, Mohammad Haidar, on Friday chaired an expanded meeting at the National Social Security Fund with representatives of doctors, private hospitals, and the fund's administration to discuss healthcare coverage and reimbursement.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Haidar stated that the ministry and the fund are pursuing a fast-track reform agenda, which includes revising the medical tariff schedule and ensuring the continued payment of financial advances every 15 days, now covering 90% of claims. He also announced plans to review drug reimbursement rates and urged healthcare providers not to impose unjustified additional fees on insured patients.

NSSF Director General Mohammad Karaki mentioned that a committee would start reviewing medical costs to establish updated tariffs within three months. Representatives of doctors and private hospitals welcomed the ongoing dialogue and emphasized the need for fairer tariffs that accurately reflect actual healthcare costs.
