Beirut: The Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Orientation on Wednesday announced that, as part of ongoing security measures to combat drug trafficking, an army unit carried out a raid in the Jouar al-Hachish area of Hermel, where it seized a drug manufacturing facility along with quantities of narcotics. In parallel operations, army units arrested two individuals: a Lebanese national in Iaat-Baalbek wanted on multiple arrest warrants for opening fire on an army patrol, with a handgun found in his possession; and a Syrian national at the Safri checkpoint in Baalbek for possessing counterfeit currency and being in the country illegally.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, separately, Military Intelligence units conducted raids in the Alfon and Al-Hmeira areas of Hermel, uncovering another drug production site and seizing a large quantity of Captagon pills and raw materials used in their manufacture. All seized items were handed over, and investigations were launched under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
