Arsal:An armed clash occurred between a Lebanese army unit and smugglers on the outskirts of Arsal, resulting in the successful prevention of a smuggling operation along the Lebanese-Syrian border.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Orientation reported that the incident took place on October 7, 2026, while the army was implementing exceptional border security measures. During the confrontation, no injuries were reported.
The army unit intercepted and seized five pickup trucks entering Lebanese territory, which were loaded with approximately five tons of copper and tin, along with a substantial quantity of tobacco. A citizen identified as A.H. was arrested for his involvement in the smuggling activities.
The confiscated goods have been handed over to the relevant authorities, and an investigation is underway with the detained individual, supervised by the appropriate judicial bodies.
