Baabda: Marking International Women's Day, Lebanon's First Lady Nehmat Aoun addressed the Lebanese women and young ladies, emphasizing the nation's steadfast support. "Lebanon is steadfast with you, and thanks to you and to your faith, it will remain steadfast because the heart of citizenship beats in you and because you are the ones who carried Lebanon on your shoulders," she declared.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun's remarks came during a gathering she organized at Baabda Presidential Palace, themed "You are the Heart of Citizenship." The event celebrated 31 distinguished Lebanese women and young ladies who have excelled in various fields by undertaking initiatives rooted in national responsibility and a strong sense of citizenship.
The attendees represented a wide array of occupational fields and sectors, including health and nursing, aviation, wartime assistance, social work, the Red Cross and Civil Defense, art and culture, mental health, municipal work, technology, purposeful platforms creation, medicine distribution, animal protection, reconstruction, and sports.
Aoun reiterated her commitment to activating the decision to declare November 4th as "Lebanese Women's Day," asserting that Lebanon cannot progress without the invaluable contributions of its women. She praised Lebanese women for their essential roles and contributions in navigating challenging circumstances that the country has faced.
The gathering was organized to honor the courage and dedication of Lebanese women during crises and their significant role in reinforcing the spirit of citizenship.
