Lebanese Red Cross Volunteers Injured in Airstrike During Rescue Mission in Sirbine


Sirbine: Following an airstrike that hit a house in Sirbine, South Lebanon, Lebanese Red Cross volunteers sustained injuries while attempting to rescue casualties.

According to National News Agency-Lebanon, the incident occurred early on Sunday when the Lebanese Red Cross dispatched ambulance teams to the site in coordination with UNIFIL following an initial airstrike. While the volunteers were searching through the rubble for survivors, the building was targeted a second time. This subsequent strike resulted in concussions among the volunteers and damage to their ambulances. The injured volunteers were quickly transported to a local hospital and have been reported to be in good condition.

The Lebanese Red Cross emphasized the necessity of ensuring the safety of volunteers engaged in rescue operations at all times. This incident highlights the risks faced by humanitarian workers in conflict zones and raises concerns about the protection provided to them while performing their critical duties.
