Riyadh: Minister of Industry Joe Issa Khoury emphasized Lebanon's resilience and forward-looking vision at the 21st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Issa Khoury highlighted Lebanon's enduring industrial heritage and its evolution amidst crises. He conveyed that the Lebanese industry remains robust, evolving as a significant private employer with over 250,000 jobs and contributing more than $9 billion to the GDP. He underscored that industry in Lebanon is deeply rooted in its history, spanning sectors such as food, pharmaceuticals, furniture, jewelry, and advanced technological industries like semiconductors and robotics.
Issa Khoury announced the recent launch of Lebanon's National Industrial Strategy, aimed at revitalizing the industrial sector to drive economic growth and stability. He invited international investment in five key industrial groups: food and beverages, consumer and cosmetics, creative industry, advanced technology, and the pharmaceutical and health sectors, including the medical cannabis industry.
Emphasizing Lebanon's readiness for business, Issa Khoury called for international partnerships, asserting Lebanon's potential to become a hub for industry and innovation. He expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for hosting the conference and to international partners supporting Lebanon's industrial ambitions.
