Lebanon and Jordan Strengthen Military Ties as King Abdullah Backs Lebanese Armed Forces Conference

Beirut: The Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued a statement detailing a significant visit by Army Commander General Rodolph Haykal to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on August 30 and 31, 2026. General Haykal held a crucial meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II at the Royal Al Husseiniya Palace. The meeting was attended by Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Chairman of the Jordanian Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmad Al Huneiti, among other officials.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to Lebanon, emphasizing support for its security and sovereignty. The King also endorsed an upcoming international conference in Paris on September 17, 2026, aimed at bolstering the Lebanese Armed Forces' capabilities.

General Haykal also visited the Jordanian Armed Forces' General Headquarters, where he received an official welcome from Major General Yousef Ahmad Al Huneiti. A meeting was held with discussions on enhancing cooperation between the two military institutions and addressing the challenges faced by the Lebanese army.

General Haykal expressed gratitude to Jordan for its consistent support and initiatives aimed at strengthening the Lebanese army, recognizing its essential national role.
