Lebanon: Lebanon's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday expressed gratitude to UNESCO and its member states for their support, welcoming the newly launched emergency response plan for Lebanon and the creation of a dedicated funding mechanism. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, this initiative builds on the Executive Board's Decision 220 of October 21, 2024, supported by 66 nations, which outlined a three-phase framework: assessing Lebanon's needs, devising an action plan, and establishing an emergency fund. The plan prioritizes education, media safety, and heritage protection, particularly sites endangered by military aggression. The ministry urged member states to contribute to the fund, enabling UNESCO and Lebanon to execute vital projects and restore damage caused by Israeli attacks.
