Beirut: Lebanon has lodged a new complaint with the United Nations Security Council, condemning Israeli attacks on its territory and urging the international body to enforce Resolution 1701. This complaint, submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants through Lebanon's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, documents incidents from October 15 to 24, 2024, highlighting ongoing tensions and calling for international intervention. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the complaint aims to hold Israel accountable for its military actions, including ground incursions and attacks on civilian infrastructure, under the guise of targeting military sites. Lebanon alleges that such actions have resulted in civilian casualties and destruction in border villages and neighborhoods in southern Lebanon. The complaint also details attacks on the Lebanese army, resulting in the deaths of six soldiers, and strikes on medical facilities, journalists, and UNIFIL forces. Lebanon further accused Israel of targeting key civic locations, such as the Rafik Hariri Governmental Hospital, the Nabatieh municipality building, and the ancient city of Tyre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These actions, Lebanon argues, demonstrate Israel's disregard for international law and its failure to respect United Nations resolutions. The complaint urges the Security Council to condemn Israel's actions, which Lebanon views as a violation of its sovereignty and a threat to the safety of its citizens. Lebanon reiterates its demand for Israel to fully implement Resolution 1701, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
