Beirut: The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Lebanon announced that Lebanon has officially added Korea to its list of reference countries for pharmaceuticals, as per the decision issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health on April 21, 2026. This move signifies a growing partnership in the health sector between the two nations.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Korean government expressed its gratitude for this recognition, highlighting the trust and cooperation that have been fostered between Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health and Korea's regulatory bodies. This acknowledgment not only underscores the quality, safety, and efficacy of Korean pharmaceutical products but also aims to enhance the availability of high-quality medicines in Lebanon.
The collaboration between the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health and the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has been pivotal in achieving this outcome. Minister of Food and Drug Safety Oh Yu-kyoung emphasized the significance of this designation for the global expansion of Korea's pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, as well as for diversifying medicine supply chains.
Korean Ambassador to Lebanon, Geon Gyu-suk, remarked that this decision would further solidify health sector cooperation between the two countries, ensuring better access to essential medicines for the Lebanese population. The Korean government is also committed to promoting exchanges between the pharmaceutical sectors of the two countries, with plans to organize a business forum to facilitate these interactions.
