Maronite Patriarch Arrives in Rome for Canonization of Martyred Massabki Brothers

Rome: Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, arrived at the Pontifical Maronite Institute in Rome on Thursday, in anticipation of the upcoming canonization of the martyred Massabki brothers, set to be officiated by Pope Francis at the Vatican this Sunday. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the visit of Patriarch al-Rahi is not only for the canonization event but also includes presiding over a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Peter's Basilica. The Mass is scheduled for Monday, October 21, at 5 pm, marking a significant religious gathering for the Maronite community and other attendees. The canonization of the Massabki brothers, who were martyred in Damascus in 1860 for their Christian faith, has been a long-awaited event for the Maronite Church. Their recognition as saints by the Vatican underscores their importance to the Maronite community and the broader Christian world.
