Mikati, Derian Call for Unity Amid Escalating Crisis in Lebanon.

Beirut: Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Thursday received Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdel Latif Darian, at the Grand Serail for discussions on the current developments in Lebanon. The Mufti was welcomed with an official reception, greeted by Cabinet Secretary-General, Judge Mahmoud Makkieh, and Protocol Director Lahoud Lahoud. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Prime Minister Mikati expressed his gratitude for Mufti Darian's presence, stating, "We welcome His Eminence in the house of all Lebanese. His national positions reflect the true spirit of Lebanese unity embodied by Dar al-Fatwa." The Prime Minister emphasized the need for Lebanese leaders to cooperate and support each other to counter the repercussions of Israeli aggression and to shield the Lebanese people from threats and divisions. After the meeting, Mufti Darian affirmed Dar al-Fatwa's support for Prime Minister Mikati's efforts to safeguard Lebanon from Israeli aggression and address the nation's political, social , economic, and living crises. He stressed the importance of unity, solidarity, and reinforcing Lebanon's internal resilience to confront these challenges. The Grand Mufti highlighted the need for dedication, guided by religious and patriotic duty, to help Lebanon overcome its crises. He urged for strengthened Islamic and national unity, noting that Lebanon faces serious dangers. Derian praised Mikati's commitment to addressing issues wisely and collaboratively with all political factions, recognizing him as a true statesman and institution-builder. Mufti Derian also emphasized the urgency of electing a new president, stating that Lebanon cannot remain without a leader. He called for all political forces to cooperate in resolving the presidential vacancy to ensure Lebanon's stability, security, and calm. Finally, the Grand Mufti expressed confidence in Prime Minister Mikati's role at the upcoming Arab summit in Saudi Arabia, where he is invited by King Salman bin Abdulaziz to represent Lebanese hopes and a spirations. Following the meeting, an extended gathering was held, attended by leading Sunni figures, including prominent religious leaders from various regions.
