Mikati Offers Condolences to Army Chief Amid Rising Tensions in Southern Lebanon.

BEIRUT: Prime Minister Najib Mikati reached out to Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, to express his deepest condolences following the martyrdom of two soldiers due to an Israeli attack on an army post in Mari-Hasbaya. During the call, Mikati also wished for the swift recovery of those injured and discussed the ongoing Israeli assaults on Lebanese territory. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Mikati emphasized the increasing toll of the conflict, noting that the number of Lebanese army martyrs has now reached thirty-six since the onset of Israeli aggression. He underscored the importance of honoring their sacrifice by unifying efforts to halt the Israeli attacks and empower the Lebanese army to enforce state authority across all national territories. Mikati expressed optimism about current diplomatic efforts, hoping they would lead to a ceasefire and subsequently pave the way for the implementation of Resolution 1701.
