Tripoli: Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nasser Al-Din has launched the 'Karim' initiative, aimed at providing full health coverage for families displaced by the collapse or imminent risk of collapse of their homes in Tripoli, northern Lebanon.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the announcement was made during a press conference at the Ministry of Public Health, attended by Major General Bassam al-Nabulsi, Head of the Higher Relief Committee; Dr. Abdel Hamid Karimeh, Head of Tripoli Municipality; and several directors and board heads of public hospitals. Minister Nasser Al-Din began by expressing condolences for the victims who lost their lives due to the building collapses in the city.
Nasser Al-Din emphasized that the "Karim" initiative offers hope amid the current situation, stating, "It is a humanitarian initiative, the decision for which was made in coordination with the Prime Minister and the government. The initiative underscores the role of the state and the Ministry of Public Health in supporting the people of Tripoli, particularly the most vulnerable groups."
The Minister further detailed that the initiative provides complete health coverage in public hospitals for families residing in at-risk buildings. The Ministry of Public Health receives data from the municipality and the Higher Relief Commission for each evacuated building, and issues a card for every family member, including personal details and a QR Code linked to the ministry.
