Beirut: Minister of Information Paul Morcos held a meeting with Members of Parliament Nada Boustani and Nicolas Sehnaoui at his office in the ministry. The meeting took place Friday morning and was scheduled to begin at 10:30 am.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, protests were organized by the Depositors' Cry Association at the Grand Serail and the Ministry of Finance in Riad El Solh Square. The protestors opposed the government's plan to return deposits over a period of 15 years and to convert part of these deposits into shares and bonds.
The protest reflects significant public discontent with the government's proposed financial strategy, as citizens voiced their concerns about the prolonged timeline and the conversion of deposits into potentially risky financial instruments.
