The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has begun implementing its plans in all governorates to confront the winter season and mitigate the negative effects that may result from it, especially in emergency situations.
The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Mohamed Ziara, explained in a press statement today, Wednesday, that the Public Works has developed an emergency plan, within the framework of its responsibility for external and connecting roads in all governorates, and has raised the readiness of its technical and human crews, maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment, and securing additional mechanisms in the event of depressions and snow, and also Formation of technical and field committees.
He added: There are instructions to all directorates to continue implementing the plans drawn up to confront the winter season, including protecting roads from drifts, filling potholes, and maintaining and treating damage to them, in order to raise traffic safety, especially in the vicinity of black spots, and repair water culverts and install new culverts in areas exposed to floods. As well as maintaining water drainage systems, to prevent the accumulation of rainwater and obstructing traffic, and removing obstacles, backfill and waste from waterways, valleys and ferries.
He pointed out that the Ministry worked to review the results of the emergency plan for last year, analyze them to identify hot spots, and address them within the available capabilities.
He stressed that Public Works cooperates with all partner institutions, such as the Civil Defense, the Police, and the Red Crescent, with the aim of consolidating efforts during the winter season, as well as facilitating their work during the emergency period. He also indicated that the Public Works Directorates are part of the emergency council for each governorate, and they implement their powers on the effective and connected roads. And coordination with all relevant institutions to deal with emergency situations during the winter, to get out of them with the least possible losses
